Homeroom Hero: Jane Cleere Johnson

A Fair for All is honored to recognize Jane Cleere Johnson of Mushroom Manor Books as a Homeroom Hero donor.

Jane is an avid reader and grandmother who loves sharing picture books, chapter books, and Harry Potter with her grandkids. She's also the author of a middle-grade fantasy novel, and her debut picture book, Where Brambles Grow, is forthcoming from Bushel & Peck in 2028.

As a former teacher, Jane saw firsthand the disappointment on children's faces when they couldn't purchase anything at their school book fair — an experience that shapes why she gives today: for the children, and for the joy of reading.

One of Jane's favorite memories is volunteering at the book fair at Havencroft Elementary with all four of her children attending at once, watching kids' excitement as they picked out books, posters, and fair-day treasures. She also treasures a childhood memory of buying her own copy of Curious George off a book mobile in Philadelphia — a moment that still makes her smile.
